Laboratory of High – Speed Automobiles (LSA KhADI)

This Laboratory was founded in 1953. One of the founders of this laboratory was Vladimir Nikitin, who was famous racer not only inside the Soviet Union but also around the world. The main purpose of the life of Vladimir Nikitin was to create the fasters car in the world. This idea of creating race cars became the purpose of laboratory and has been continued by students of Nikitin throughout the years.

The first car created in LSA by students was KhADI 2 in 1961. The body of the car was made of fiberglass. It was for the first time in Soviet Union when fiberglass was used as a material for car body. This technology was improved and used in majority of our cars.

Conference "Students’ international engineering projects"

   The meeting with our counterparts from Moscow Automobile and Highway Institute (GTU MADI) is associated with the conference of "Students’ International Engineering Projects". We are interested in this exchange of experience, because our colleagues from Russia have already participated in international students’ projects like Formula Student (FSAE) and Formula Hybrid that presents a big interest for us. Besides, our team has experience in Shell Eco-marathon (SEM).

A: About myself, or better how I accepted the ideas of SEM =) :

In 2007, I, 4th year student, was lucky to attend the competition "Shell eco-marathon" which took place in France, in town of Nogaro, Gascony. It was a fantastic trip. First of all the country itself - France! For me as a person born in the Soviet Union it is a country in which the action of the novel "The Three Musketeers" by Alexandre Dumas took place. And what was my happiness when one evening we dined in the box of Athos, Porthos and Aramis.

KHADI-34 took part in the motor race

The motor race KhNAHU 2011 "Security of Ukraine’s Future" was held on April 12-19th. The purpose of the motor race was to attract public attention to road safety issues and to present the most energy-efficient motor car in Ukraine created by students of KhNAHU.

The route of the race was: Kharkiv-Zaporizhya-Dniprorudne-Nova Kahovka-Kherson-Mykolayiv-Nikopol-Marganets-Dnipropetrovsk

 

The motor car Khadi 34 took part in the rally in the quality of marketing material, advertising our achievements.

Presentation of the project "Green Rush" of AIESEC in Kharkiv

On April 20th the presentation of the "Green Rush" project lead by international youth organization AIESEC in Kharkiv was held in the library of Kharkiv National Economic University (KhNEU).

The main goal of the project is to improve knowledge of kharkovites about environmental problems of the world and especially of our city. As a result of the project, awareness of the importance of ecology for city dwellers and especially for students of Kharkov is going to increase, and will be offered solutions for improvement of it.

During the presentation the project manager Lyudmila Yakovenko made a speech. She told about the project. An intern from India Ravi Shankar spoke about the experience of similar projects in India.

Brain-ring on traffic rules

On April 9th at KhNAHU there was held a brain-ring on issues of road traffic safety, "Do you know the traffic rules?" between the students of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region.

This event was organized by the youth movement "Security of Ukraine’s Future".
The participants competed on the knowledge of traffic rules.
The 1st place was taken by representatives of school № 5.
The 2nd place – by school № 17.
The 3rd place – by grammar school № 34.

The students also visited the laboratory of high-speed cars, where they learned about the project "Hadi 34" as well as the goals and philosophy of ecological marathon Shell and energy efficient technologies of Honda Company.

"KhADI 34" at the "Days of British business in Ukraine"

Our team participated in the exhibition "Days of British business in Ukraine" which was organized by the British Embassy in Ukraine with the support of the shopping center "Globus", companies PremierExpo, MediaCom Ukraine, Pulse, the European Business Association and the British-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the benefits of British business, to show the expertise of British companies and to demonstrate the brands the general public. The participating companies had the opportunity to advertise their products and services, as well as to demonstrate the strengths of British business in Ukraine.On March 17th the debates "Business to Business» (B2B) were held  with the participation of leading Ukrainian and British businessmen, in which there were discussed business development opportunities. 18th and 19th March the exhibition was opened to the public.

I Overview

Laboratory of speed automobiles (LSA) has been operating as part of scientific and research activity at the Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University (known as KhADI) for over 50 years. The student design and construction board (SDCB) and LSA are contemporaries. SDCB is known worldwide, as it is a unique institution for preparing students in the field of speed cars construction and operation to be used in motorsport. Under “KhADI” brand 42 speed records have been set. 16 out of these 42 have broken the world speed records. For over 10 years those sportsmen, who usually take part in close-circuit races, have been placed at All-Ukrainian championship.

The official office of Shell in Ukraine invited staff of SDCB to take part in the international competition “Shell Eco-marathon”. With a purpose to familiarize Ukrainian engineers with the competition a member of SDCB was invited to the European lap of Shell Eco-marathon, which was held at the Nogaro race track (France). Right after it the team got engaged

in the development of a car-participant.

“Shell Eco-marathon” challenges high school and college student teams from all over the world to design, build and test energy efficient vehicles. With annual events, which take place in both Americas, Europe and Asia, the winners are those teams whose vehicles prove to be the most fuel- and energy-conserving.

In 2010 the team “LSA KhADI Honda” participated in European lap of Shell Eco-marathon at Lausitz circuit in Germany and has shown result - 570 km on 1 liter of fuel (petroleum). This result was recorded and KhADI 34 was listed in the Record Book of Ukraine as the most energy efficient automobile in Ukraine.

In 2011 “LSA KhADI” was selected to the competition again. The team plans to modernize the vehicle and perfect the result.

Our result is 570 km just on 1 litre of gasoline!

Shell Eco Press Lunch held in Kiev

The racing car made by the students of  KhNAHU traveled 570 km and consumed 1 liter of gasoline. The participants of the international competition of innovations «Shell Eco-marathon» were awarded on 19^th of May in Kiev.

The presentation of “Khadi 34” motor car, the first vehicle to represent Ukraine at the Shell Eco-marathon - the annual international competition for energy efficiency increase, occurred in Kiev.

The result of a year’s work is an engineering solution based on the gasoline engine Honda GX35. The motor car weighs 43 kg and can accommodate one occupant.
